# Reports and feedback

> Open reports with their own layouts and share comments from your reports and app views.

## A report or an app view?

**Ask for a report** when you want a result with its own layout: a weekly review,
a research summary, or a proposal. It lives in one of your app's databases and
opens inside Notis. Each report keeps its own design. Updating this week's report
doesn't change last week's.

**Use an app view** when many items should share the same layout, such as every
customer profile or project overview. Updating that view changes the layout for
all those items.

Notis chooses an appropriate app for your report. If there isn't one, it can ask
whether you'd like to create or install an app. A correction normally updates the
same report; a new weekly review normally creates a new one.

For a plain HTML document, Notis opens a separate browser tab. You still have
Share and the chat widget, without the usual navigation around the document.

## Share context without leaving your work

Your chat keeps a context pill for the page or item you have open. It updates as
you move around, so you can check what Notis will see before sending.

When a report or app offers comments:

1. Select a passage, choose **Comment**, and write your response.
2. Choose **Add to chat**. Your comment and selected passage appear together in a pill.
3. Send your message when you're ready. Adding a pill doesn't send anything by itself.

Apps can offer their own ways to comment, such as clicking a point on an image.
Those comments can carry the image and the exact spot into chat too. The app
decides how to display and save its own annotations.

Copy text from a supported report or app view and paste it into chat to attach a
selected-text pill with its source. Text copied elsewhere pastes normally.

Hover over a pill, or click it to keep its preview open. You can read its content,
check the source, and expand **Context details** for more information. Remove any
extra pill you don't want to include before sending.

Unsent chat context survives ordinary reloads on that device. If a message fails,
its context stays with the failed message so you can retry. Context already sent
stays unchanged, even if you later edit the page or add a newer comment.

These controls are optional; plain HTML documents don't include them. A comment
isn't permission to carry out a proposal: tell Notis explicitly when you want it
to take action.
