# CRM Updates (via Notion)

> Use the CRM database from the Notis Second Brain template as your CRM, so Notis can create leads, update statuses, log calls, and file follow-up tasks in Notion.

Use the Notion **CRM** database as your pipeline, so Notis can create leads, move them through your funnel, log calls, and file follow-up tasks without a third-party CRM.

## What this setup does

Notis reads and writes your Notion databases. With the CRM database from the Second Brain, Notis can:

* Create a new lead from a business card photo or dictated contact details

* Update a lead's status hands-free

* Log calls and meetings with the key topics and next steps

* Create follow-up tasks in your Notion Tasks database

* Pull the most relevant case study from your Notion workspace when drafting a follow-up email

## Step 1: Set up your CRM database

The [Notis Second Brain](/notion/second-brain) already contains a [CRM database](/get-started/notion) set up for you.

  If you choose to use your own CRM, like HubSpot, Salesforce, or Pipedrive, make sure to delete the CRM database in the Notis Second Brain template to avoid any conflicts.

  You can add instructions in the database description (for example the statuses you use and what each one means) so Notis fills in new leads consistently. See [database instructions](/notion/database-instructions).

## Step 2: Ask Notis to use it

> *Add new lead from this business card.*

> *Update Jane Doe's status to Interested in my CRM.*

> *Log a call with Jane: 15-minute discussion about workflow improvements. She's eager to see a demo.*

> *Create follow-up tasks for Jane in Notion.*

> *Draft a follow-up email to Jane with our best case study.*

Notis creates the lead in your CRM database, updates the status, logs the call, and creates the follow-up tasks in your Notion Tasks database.

## Troubleshooting

* **Notis updates the wrong CRM:** If you also connected HubSpot, Salesforce, or Pipedrive, delete the CRM database from the Second Brain, or name the target in your message ("in my Notion CRM").

* **Notis can't find your CRM database:** Make sure it is [connected to Notis](/notion/connect-notion) and synced.
