# Note Taking (via Notion)

> Keep your notes in a Notion database so Notis can save your voice notes as structured pages, attach the original transcript, and file each note under the right area or project.

Use a Notion **Notes** database as the home for everything you capture by voice, so Notis can turn your stream of consciousness into organized pages you can find again.

## What this setup does

Notis reads and writes your Notion databases. With a dedicated Notes database, Notis can:

* Save each voice note as a structured page with a link back to it

* Attach the original audio and transcript to the page

* File the note under the right Area or Project of your [Notis Second Brain](/notion/second-brain)

## Step 1: Set up your Notes database

The [Notis Second Brain](/notion/second-brain) already contains a [Notes database](/get-started/notion) set up for you.

<Tip>
  You can easily make a Notes database or customize the one that comes with the template. Just make sure it has a title property and Notis will understand it should be used for note taking.

  If you want Notis to save your original transcript, include a media property and add a description to the property like “*Add here the audio and txt transcript whenever available.*”

## Step 2: Ask Notis to save your notes

Send a voice note with your ideas, then tell Notis where it goes:

> *Save this to my Notion notes database.*

> *Turn this into a structured document and save it to Notion.*

Notis extracts the key themes, creates a logical structure, and saves the page to your Notes database with a link.

## Step 3: Organize your notes

Tell Notis which Area or Project the note belongs to and it sets the relation for you:

> *Associate this with my work area.*

> *Associate this with new help center project.*

## Troubleshooting

* **Notis can't find your notes database:** Make sure the database has a title property and is [connected to Notis](/notion/connect-notion).

* **The transcript is not saved with the note:** Add a media property to the database and describe it as the place for the audio and txt transcript (see the Tip in Step 1).
