# Share a Space

> Invite people by email or share with your whole team. Everyone you invite is an Editor, the creator stays the owner, and anyone who leaves can keep a copy.

Open a Space and click **Share**. From there you can invite people to work on it with you, share it with your whole team, or [publish it as a site](/spaces/publish-a-site).

Sharing a Space shares everything inside it: its pages, its sub-Spaces, and the databases, skills and automations they use. You share the Space, never the pieces.

## Invite people by email

Type an address under **Invite by email** and click **Invite**. The person receives an invitation; once they accept it, the Space appears in their Spaces.

They become an **Editor**: they can use, change, invite and publish everything in the Space. That is the only role, and everyone in a Space has it. If you want someone to look without changing anything, [publish a site](/spaces/publish-a-site) instead.

Good to know:

* An invitation only works for the address you typed. If the person signs in with another address, Notis asks them to switch.
* If Notis shows you an invitation link instead of sending an email, pass it on yourself. It only works for that address.
* Pending invitations are listed in the Share window with their expiry date. You can copy the link again or **Withdraw** the invitation at any time.

## Share with your whole team

Turn on **Share with my whole team**. Everyone in your [team](/account-and-settings/teams) becomes an Editor for as long as they are in the team: new teammates get the Space when they join, and people who leave the team lose it.

You need a team first. Create or join one from your account settings.

## Sub-Spaces come along

Everyone in a Space is also in its sub-Spaces, and gets what those sub-Spaces use. The reverse is not true: sharing a sub-Space on its own does not share the Space above it.

In a sub-Space's Share window, people who got their access from a Space above are listed with the name of that Space. Their access is managed there.

## The owner

The person who created a Space is its **owner**: the one Editor nobody can remove. Apart from that, the owner is an Editor like everyone else.

To hand a Space over, choose **Make owner** next to another Editor in the Share window. They become the owner; you stay an Editor and can leave later. An owner has to hand over before leaving.

If the owner deletes their Notis account, the Editor who joined earliest becomes the owner.

## Remove someone or leave

In the Share window, click **Remove** next to a person, or **Leave** next to your own name. That person stops being an Editor of the Space and everything inside it.

Before you confirm, **Keep a copy** decides what happens to what they lose:

* **Checked** (the default): they get their own copy of the pages, databases and skills they lose, in their own Spaces. The automations in that copy start paused, so nothing runs twice. If their own Spaces used something from this Space, those Spaces switch to the copy.
* **Unchecked**: they lose access, and nothing is copied for them. If their own Spaces used something from this Space, it shows as **Unavailable** there.

Either way, the Space keeps working for everyone else. Anything of theirs that the Space used stays in the Space as a copy.

## FAQ

<AccordionGroup>
  <Accordion title="Can I give someone view-only access?">
    No. Everyone in a Space is an Editor. To let someone look without changing anything, publish the Space, or just one page, as a [site](/spaces/publish-a-site) and send them the link.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Who pays when an Editor runs an automation or clicks a button?">
    The person who set it up. Automations and buttons that use an outside service run on the account of whoever connected it, no matter who clicks. Nobody else gets billed by surprise. If that person leaves the Space, the automation or button stops until another Editor connects their own account.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="What can my Notis do with a Space someone shared with me?">
    Everything you can do yourself: read and change the pages, use the Space's skills and databases, and find them when you search for something. As soon as you lose access, all of it disappears from your searches and your Notis stops using it.
