Social Media Scheduling (via NotionSocial)
Learn how to connect NotionSocial to your Notion Social Media Calendar so that posts created by Notis are automatically scheduled and published across all your social platforms.
Use NotionSocial to automatically schedule and publish social media posts that Notis creates in your Notion Social Media Calendar database.
What this setup does
In this setup, Notis handles the AI work: generating post ideas, drafting captions, creating images, and saving entries into your Notion Social Media Calendar database. NotionSocial handles the scheduling and publishing: it watches your Notion database for new entries and publishes them to your connected social accounts at the scheduled time.
That split is important: Notis is your creation layer, while NotionSocial is your scheduling and publishing layer. Everything stays inside Notion β no separate dashboard needed.
Prerequisites
- A Notis workspace connected to your Notion
- A Social Media Calendar database in Notion (included in the Notis Second Brain template, or create your own with at least a title property)
- A NotionSocial account
- At least one connected social account inside NotionSocial (X, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, YouTube, Threads, Facebook, or Pinterest)
Step 1: Create your NotionSocial account
Go to notionsocial.app and sign up. NotionSocial costs $15/month on top of your Notis subscription.
Step 2: Connect NotionSocial to your Notion database
- In NotionSocial, connect your Notion workspace when prompted.
- Select the Social Media Calendar database that Notis already uses (from the Notis Second Brain template), or use the NotionSocial template directly.
- NotionSocial will sync with this database and watch for new entries.
If you already connected Notis to the Notis Second Brain template and use the included Social Media Calendar, you can skip giving Notis separate access β it's already connected.
Step 3: Connect your social media accounts
In NotionSocial, connect the social platforms you want to publish to:
- X (Twitter)
- LinkedIn (personal + company pages)
- TikTok
- YouTube
- Threads
NotionSocial supports more platforms than the built-in Notis integrations.
Step 4: Disable social accounts in Notis portal
If you choose to use NotionSocial, do not connect your social media accounts in the Notis portal. Notis will create entries in your Social Media Calendar database and NotionSocial will handle the actual scheduling and posting. Connecting both would cause duplicate posts.
Step 5: Let Notis create, let NotionSocial publish
Once everything is connected, just talk to Notis as usual:
"Post this at a random time in the next 7 days on all my socials. Caption: 'Human in the loop in AI is not a bug, it's a feature'. Add a funny square cartoon strip."
Notis will:
- Generate the image
- Write or use your caption
- Create an entry in your Social Media Calendar database with the scheduled date
NotionSocial will:
- Detect the new entry
- Publish it to all your connected platforms at the scheduled time
Example workflow
- Tell Notis what to post β Send a voice note or text message with your content idea, an image, or a brief.
- Notis drafts the post β It generates an image (if needed), writes the caption, and creates an entry in your Social Media Calendar database with a scheduled date.
- Review in Notion β Open your Social Media Calendar to review, tweak captions, or adjust the schedule.
- NotionSocial publishes automatically β At the scheduled time, NotionSocial posts to all your connected platforms with the right formatting.
Example prompts
- "Create a LinkedIn post image for our product launch, then review it for readability and brand fit. Save it in my social media calendar for next Tuesday."
- "Write three caption options for this post and save the best one to my social media database scheduled for tomorrow at 9 AM."
- "Create posts for all my social accounts about this new feature. Schedule them across the next 7 days."
- "How many views and comments did we total on our social media accounts in the last 7 days?"

Automating post creation
You can set up a Notis automation to automatically turn new content into social posts:
- In the Notis Portal, open the Automations tab and create a new automation.
- Choose a trigger that runs when new content is created (e.g. a webhook from your CMS or a Notion trigger).
- Add instructions telling Notis to create social media entries in your database for each platform, with captions, media, and scheduled dates.
NotionSocial picks up the new entries and handles the rest.
Troubleshooting
- Posts not publishing: Confirm NotionSocial is connected to the correct Notion database and your social accounts are active in NotionSocial.
- Duplicate posts: Make sure you have not also connected social media accounts directly in the Notis portal. Only one publishing path should be active.
- Wrong database: Verify that both Notis and NotionSocial are pointing to the same Social Media Calendar database in Notion.
- Missing platforms: NotionSocial supports more platforms than the built-in Notis integrations. If you need Threads, Facebook, or Pinterest, use NotionSocial.
Summary
NotionSocial turns your Notion Social Media Calendar into a full publishing pipeline. Notis creates the content and saves it to your database; NotionSocial watches that database and publishes at the scheduled time. Everything lives in Notion β no separate social media dashboard needed.
