Use a Notion Tasks database as your task manager, so Notis can create, assign, and update tasks from any channel and read your workload back to you.

What this setup does

Notis reads and writes your Notion databases. With a dedicated Tasks database, Notis can:
  • Create tasks by voice with a name, description, assignee, due date, reminder, and project
  • Read back your tasks, and the tasks assigned to each teammate
  • Update task status and deadlines
  • Send you project status reports and daily briefs

Step 1: Set up your Tasks database

The Notis Second Brain already contains a Tasks database already set up for you. You can easily customise the tasks database to match any productivity framework. Just add the missing properties, instructions in their description on how to set them and configure the views to match your personal preferences.
If you choose to use your own task manager, like Todoist or Google Task, make sure to delete the task database in the Notis Second Brain template to avoid any conflicts.
If you want to assign tasks, make sure you have a property of type “person” in your database.

Step 2: Ask Notis to use it

Create a new task in my Notion Tasks database: Redesign landing page, assign to Sarah, due Friday.
What’s all my tasks planned for the week?
Mark ‘Redesign landing page’ as In progress.
If you connect multiple apps that support task management, say “in Notion” so Notis knows where to create or edit the task.

Step 3: Work with your team

Each team member can ask about their workload, update progress, and check team status by voice:
What tasks are assigned to me?
What tasks are overdue across the team?
Make sure you have a “person” property in your Tasks database so you can assign tasks to team members with access to your Notion workspace.

Troubleshooting

  • Tasks are created in the wrong app: Delete the Tasks database from the Second Brain template if you use another task manager, or name the target (“in Notion”) in your instruction.
  • Notis can’t assign a task: Add a property of type “person” to the Tasks database and make sure the teammate has access to your Notion workspace.
